Transport around Cuba

Are you visiting other places in Cuba after Havana? For the shorter distances, up to 4-5 hours, the most convenient way to travel around Cuba is with a colectivo – a door to door taxi service shared with other tourists.

The colectivo is priced per person, you are picked up at your casa a and driven to the door of your casa at the destination. It can be booked a day in advance, so choosing this form of transport also gives some flexibility as you do not have to plan far ahead. It is a door to door service and a quicker way to reach your next destination compared to other options like the Viazul bus.

A pleasant experience

We travelled from Havana to Trinidad in a taxi colectivo arranged by Nini. Being picked up at our casa made for a relaxed start to the day and Jose, our driver, was a treasure. A good driver who knew the road and a communicative and fun person. He answered all our questions along the way. Going off-road to fill petrol next to a farmhouse in a field surrounded by animals, only added to the adventure. We used the same service to get back to Havana and it was again a pleasant experience and much faster than the Viazul bus.
